Co-Hosting Club Events

Written by Rochelle Garcia

Co-hosting lets two clubs partner on a single event, making the collaboration visible across Strava — on the Event Detail Page, in event browse, on each club's upcoming events list, and on the event flyer. Members of both clubs are notified, and the event appears on both clubs' pages.

A few things to know before setting up a co-hosted event:

  • You must be a member of the club you want to invite as a co-host.

  • Co-hosted events must be open to everyone. Member-only events cannot have a co-host.

  • Co-hosted events cannot be recurring. They are standalone events only.

  • Each event currently supports one co-host (two clubs total).

For event organizers

Adding a co-host when creating an event

You can add a co-host directly from the event creation flow.

  1. From your club's page, tap Create Event.

  2. Fill in your event details.

  3. Scroll to Advanced options and tap Add a Co-host.

  4. A list of clubs you're a member of will appear. Select the club you want to invite.

  5. Tap Create.

Not seeing the club you're looking for? You must be a club member to request a co-host. Join the club first, then return to add them. Please note that only admins can add co-hosts to an event.

Once your event is created, it goes live immediately on your club's page and across Strava event surfaces. The co-host invitation is sent to admins of the invited club, and the invited club will show as pending on your Event Detail Page. Only you and your fellow admins can see this status — participants see the event as a single-host event until the co-host accepts.

Adding a co-host after the event is created

You can invite a co-host at any point by editing the event.

  1. Go to the Event Detail Page and tap Edit.

  2. Scroll to Add a Co-host and select the club you want to invite.

  3. Save your changes. The invitation is sent immediately.

What happens after you send the invite

The invited club's admins receive a notification letting them know you've requested a co-host collaboration. Once they accept, the event updates to show both clubs across all event surfaces and their club members are notified. If they decline, you'll receive a notification and can invite a different club or continue as the sole host.

If your co-host invite is declined

You'll receive a notification when a club declines your request. From the Edit Event screen you can invite a different club, re-invite the same club, or continue with the event as the sole host.

Editing a co-hosted event

You can edit event details at any time, even after a co-host has accepted. When you make changes, all RSVPs from both clubs will receive a notification that the event has been updated.

For co-hosts

Receiving and reviewing a co-host invitation

When another club invites your club to co-host, your club's admins will receive a notification. Tapping it takes you directly to the Event Detail Page, where you can review all event details before making a decision.

Accepting a co-host invitation

  1. Open the Event Detail Page from your notification.

  2. Review the event details.

  3. Tap Accept Invite.

Once you accept, the event goes live with both clubs displayed across all event surfaces. Your club members receive a notification about the event, and it appears on your club's upcoming events list and page.

Declining a co-host invitation

If the event isn't the right fit for your club, you can decline.

  1. Open the Event Detail Page from your notification.

  2. Tap Decline.

  3. Confirm your choice. Declining cannot be undone.

The organizing club will receive a notification that you've declined and can choose to invite another club or proceed as the sole host.

Removing your club from a co-hosted event

If circumstances change after you've accepted, you can remove your club from the event at any time.

  1. Go to the Event Detail Page.

  2. Tap the three-dot menu next to your club logo.

  3. Tap Remove and confirm your choice. This cannot be undone.

All RSVPs from both clubs will receive a notification that the event has been updated.

Waivers for co-hosted events

If either hosting club requires attendees to sign a waiver, all attendees must sign waivers from both clubs before their RSVP is confirmed. If you've already signed a club's waiver, you won't be asked to sign it again.

How co-hosted events appear across Strava

Once a co-host accepts, both clubs are represented equally across Strava:

  • Event Detail Page — both clubs are listed in the hosted-by section.

  • Event browse — both clubs appear on the event card.

  • Each club's page — the event appears on the upcoming events list and horizontal scroll for both clubs.

  • Event Match — after the event, activity matches will reference both clubs.

  • Event flyer — when you share the event, the flyer displays both club icons.

FAQs

Can I add more than one co-host?

Each event currently supports one co-host.

Can a recurring event have a co-host?

No. Co-hosted events must be standalone events. If you toggle recurring on while a co-host is selected, you'll be prompted to choose between keeping it recurring, without a co-host, or switching to a standalone event.

Can my co-host edit the event?

Only the original organizing club can edit event details.

What happens to the event if my co-host removes themselves?

The event remains live under your club. All RSVPs receive a notification that the event has been updated, and the co-host will no longer appear on event surfaces.

What if I want to replace my co-host?

You can edit the event and add a new co-host invitation at any time. If the original co-host had already accepted, they would need to be removed before a new invitation could be sent.

Will the co-host's members automatically see the event?

Yes. Once the co-host accepts, their club members receive a notification about the event — the same way they'd be notified if their own club had created it.

Why does the event only show one club?

If a co-host invitation is still pending or was declined, participants only see the organizing club. Both clubs will appear once the co-host accepts.
