Athletes on Strava are highly engaged and motivated by purpose, and many find meaning through advocating for causes. The For a Cause activity tag enables you to use your activities to raise awareness for the causes you care about.
Using the For a Cause Tag
The For a Cause tag is one of several activity tags available in the Strava mobile app. You can add this tag to any activity to show your support for important causes.
To add the For a Cause tag to a new activity:
When uploading a new activity to Strava, tap "Advanced Edit”
Under the details section, select Tap Activity Tag and select For a Cause.
Write about the cause or include a link in the activity description.
Tap Save to apply the tag to your activity.
To add the For a Cause tag to an existing activity:
Open the Strava mobile app and navigate to the activity you want to tag.
Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
Select Edit Activity.
Tap Activity Tags and select For a Cause.
Tap Save to apply the tag to your activity.

Changes to Cause-Specific Map Types
With the availability of the For a Cause activity tag, the following activity map types are no longer available for new activities on the Strava mobile app or website:
Support Ukraine
Black Lives Matter
Pride
Activities that previously used these map types will retain them. However, if you edit an activity with one of these map types and save it with a different map type, you will not be able to restore the original map type. Please note that editing an activity on the website may remove mobile-only tags that were previously applied.
FAQs
Can I still see activities with the old cause-specific map types?
Yes. Activities that were created with Support Ukraine, Black Lives Matter, or Pride map types will continue to display those maps.
What happens if I edit an activity with an old map type?
If you edit an activity that uses one of the discontinued map types and change the map type, you will not be able to revert to the original map type.
Can I add the For a Cause tag to activities on the website?
The For a Cause tag is currently available only in the Strava mobile app. Adding tags on the website may not be supported at this time.
