Following is a way for athletes to subscribe to other athletes' activities on Strava. When you follow another athlete you will see their activities, challenge progress, and created routes, among other actions, displayed in your activity feed. A complete list of your followers can be viewed from your profile page. Select the Following tab on the Strava website or tap on your following count on the Strava mobile app. Learn more about managing followers and blocking athletes here. Additional Follow Options can be found in several places on the Strava mobile app. Use the radio buttons to enable or disable the options for the chosen athlete.
- From the athlete’s profile page, select the "Following" button.
- From your own profile page, tap your following count to open your full list of connections. Select the Following icon next to the athlete's name.
Add Athletes to your Favorites
You can add an athlete you follow to your favorites if you would like to see their new activities towards the top of your feed. Once you’ve favorited an athlete, you’ll see a star icon next to their name on their profile page and in your feed. You will see a list of all the athletes you favorited when you view the list of athletes you’re following.
Muting an Athlete
You can mute an athlete you follow to hide the athlete's activity from your feed. You will no longer see their activities, posts, challenges, or club joins. Strava will not let the athlete know that you have muted them. To un-mute an athlete, tap Following from the athlete's profile page or next to their name in your list of followers and deselect the Mute option.
Activity Notifications from Athletes you Follow
You can opt to receive a notification each time an athlete uploads an activity. When this setting is enabled you will receive a push notification each time the athlete uploads an activity to Strava. Please be aware that you must allow Strava to send notifications in your phone’s app setting in order to receive activity notifications.
Why don't I see Follow Options for an athlete?
Please make sure your app is up to date by downloading the latest version from App Store or Google Play Store. These options are not available on the Strava website.
Can an athlete see if I’ve favorited them?
Yes, any athlete can see a list of those who’ve favorited them from their list of followers.
Why am I not receiving notifications for some activities even though I’ve enabled notifications for the athlete?
You may not receive notifications for all activities depending on the other athletes' privacy controls.
Can I share my activities with only the athletes I’ve favorited?
It is not possible to give certain followers, like those you’ve favorited, access to your activities while restricting access to other followers. At this time your activity privacy controls allow you to restrict access to your activities detail page to everyone, followers, or just you.
