Strava now makes it easy to connect your activities to the events you attend and the clubs that host them. Starting July 9, 2025, your activities will be automatically matched to a Strava event and club when specific criteria are met.
How Activity Matching Works
When you upload an activity, Strava will check for a match with events you’ve attended. An event will be matched to your activity if
Time Alignment
- Your activity starts within ±30 minutes of the event’s listed start time.
Location Proximity
- Your activity starts within the event’s meeting location or route start point.
If your activity meets these conditions, the event and club will appear in your feed and on your individual activity details page.
Privacy and Visibility
Your privacy settings will control who can see your activity, not the event match. You can choose Everyone, Followers, or Only You. Even if your activity is set to “Only You,” it can still be matched to an event, so you can keep or share proof of participation if you want. The activity will only appear to others in the feed or on your Activity Detail page, depending on your chosen privacy setting. For more details on activity privacy settings, read this article here.
Removing an Event and Club Match
If you prefer not to show the match, you can remove it. Go to your matched activity and open the Activity Details. Scroll to find the event name and tap “Remove”. Confirm by selecting “Remove”, or tap “Cancel” to keep the match.
Please note that removing an event or club match cannot be undone. This will remove both the event name and the club name from your activity.
