Strava orders your activity feed using either the Personalized or Latest Activities setting, and you can choose which one applies to both the website and the mobile app.
How It Works
To choose your feed ordering preference in the Strava mobile app, open your settings from the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Groups or You tab, then select Feed Ordering. On the Strava website, from the drop-down menu under your profile picture, select Settings > Display Preferences > Feed Ordering.
The setting you select will be applied to your feed on both the Strava website and the mobile app. To use this setting, make sure your app is up to date by downloading the latest version from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Keep in mind that any changes will apply only to new activities, so you may not notice a difference right away.
There's no way to reorder activities that were already added to your feed before you changed your preferences. Activities from athletes you've favorited may still appear closer to the top of your feed, regardless of which feed order option you've chosen. Note that this setting doesn't apply to your personal feed or your clubs' feeds, both of which are always ordered chronologically.
Feed Order Options
When you refresh your feed, any content you haven't seen before will be added to the top of the feed in the order you've chosen. Anything you've already seen will remain in the order in which you saw it.
• Personalized: We order the items in your feed to ensure that you don't miss the items that matter most to you. This order is based on the kinds of activities you tend to interact with and the great efforts you may have missed.
• Latest Activities: The feed is ordered chronologically by when new activities are finished. Be aware that some activities may appear out of order depending on when they were uploaded or whether their privacy controls were updated.
FAQs
Why Is My Feed Not Chronological Even Though I Chose "Latest Activities"?
When you load your feed, new activities are sorted chronologically, but a few things can make it look otherwise. Activities are actually sorted by end time, so a longer activity that started earlier can appear above a shorter one that started more recently. Activities are also added to the feed only once they're uploaded, so one uploaded long after it was recorded will show up later than you'd expect.
Similarly, if you've recently changed your feed ordering setting, that change only affects activities uploaded after the change was made. Switching an activity from private to public can have a similar effect, since it's added to the feed once it becomes public, which may be hours after it was uploaded. Finally, activities recorded in different time zones appear according to their local time, which can also shift where they land in the order.
Why Does My Activity Appear Days Earlier in My Feed?
This is usually caused by an activity's time data being out of sync. A few things can cause this. A GPS glitch or an outdated device can occasionally cause elapsed time data to record incorrectly. An activity that didn't save correctly may also show elapsed time that doesn't reflect reality. And if your activity's elapsed time shows hundreds of hours, the feed may place it days earlier than expected, since feed order is based on when the activity started plus its elapsed time.
